Invisalign?
An increasingly popular orthodontist treatment, Invisalign is changing the way we straighten misaligned and crooked teeth.
The Invisalign treatment uses comfortable, removable and almost invisible aligner trays as a discreet alternative to traditional metal braces. The plastic aligner trays are custom-built and adapted for each patient and are made to gradually move your teeth into position.
how does Invisalign work?
Invisalign uses an innovative virtual 3D treatment plan (ClinCheck®) to show the series of movements your teeth will go through over the course of the treatment. This allows our treating specialists and patients to see what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the Invisalign treatment plan before your custom aligners are made.
The treatment uses these detailed Scan images of your mouth and uses specific parameters to plan a unique set of movements to move and straighten your teeth. At each stage, a new custom-built and clear aligner is used to carry out the tooth movement.
how often are Invisalign aligners replaced?
You can expect to wear each aligner for about one week before replacing with the next in the series. As you replace each aligner tray or retainer, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week into their new straightened position.
Our treating specialist will monitor your progress during the duration of your treatment and make any adjustments you may need. As the Invisalign aligners only work while you are wearing them, we recommend they are kept in place for at least 22 hours per day, removing only for eating and cleaning.

Depending on the complexity of your case, treatment time can take from 3 to 7 months. As with all teeth straightening methods, you will need to wear a retainer following treatment to prevent your teeth from moving back to their original position
does Invisalign hurt?
You are likely to experience a feeling of pressure and minor discomfort when a fresh aligner is fitted, but this is a good sign the treatment is working and that your teeth are moving to their new position. You may also experience slight discomfort when eating, although this only lasts a few days after fitting a new aligner and over-the-counter pain medication, such as paracetamol and ibuprofen, should provide adequate relief.
